The World Re-Imagined

Discovering beauty in places far and near

Born in Texas, USA in 2009, Elizabeth Wang showed marvelous artistic talent early on as evident in a multi-generation music family.  At the age of 4, one day Elizabeth strolled into a McKinney gallery.  She stopped in front of a huge oil painting and said, “Mom, take a look at this Texas longhorn, it looks so real!  I want to paint just like that…” From that day on, Anne Royer, the creator of that artwork became Elizabeth’s first professional art teacher and lifelong friend ever since.

Ms. Royer graduated from the Yale University Graduate School with three Master’s Degrees: Religion and the Visual Arts, East Asian Studies, and the History of Art.  She regularly lectures at Collin College and at the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts.  She is currently the Director of McKinney Art and Music Guild, promoting creation of art in a vibrant community.  Anne Royer commented on her: “Elizabeth has a wonderful ability to understand and articulate many complex and abstract artistic concepts that are beyond her current age. Her brushing technique is quite intriguing as well, showing cultural influence of traditional Chinese brushwork.”

Since 2017, Elizabeth has been blessed yet again by another well-established Chinese artist, Minyi Kong, to broaden her pursuit of art.  Ms. Kong was among the first to graduate from Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, and she furthered her art studies at College of Visual Arts and Design in University of North Texas.  For more than ten years, she has devoted herself to art education of children and adolescents.  She has trained countless outstanding talents, many of whom have gone on to Ivy-league and professional art colleges.  Under her guidance, Elizabeth is integrating different artistic ideas while developing solid techniques.  Ms. Kong once made this observation, “Elizabeth is very creative.  She has the ability to focus on painting while thinking intelligently.”

With distinctive teaching philosophies and diverse backgrounds, these two professional teachers  are helping Elizabeth advance rapidly.  The best of American and Chinese art educations is active and unified in Elizabeth, paving the way for her more creative and integrated artwork into the future.
